FORT GORDON, GA (WFXG) –

Civilians and soldiers on Fort Gordon observed two minutes of silence in the memory of the hundreds of people who died in the September 11th attacks.
Before the ceremony, a team of soldiers completed their two day Ruck March that began on Sunday morning.

This relay style event consisted of 19 teams switching off every 10 miles. PFC Jackson Wellman completed his 10 mile portion of the run on Monday. He says he volunteered to do the march.

"I actually requested to do it because I wanted to do something to honor them and honor my fellow marine brothers who served in Afghanistan and Iraq and just to do something for them because I know the pain I went through last night is nothing compared to the 3,00 that lost their life on this day."

Hundreds of people stopped in remembrance of those who died.
