A crash on the bypass in Burke County Monday morning will cause a power outage for an area of the county.
The crash happened on the bypass near Burke County High School. Two people were taken to Augusta University Medical Center.
The crash took out a power pole. Georgia Power will be shutting down electricity in the area in order to repair the pole. The power will be out in the area from Burke County High School to the Sheriff’s Office. Schools, the detention center, the sheriff’s office and other essential facilities will operate on generators while the power is out. Georgia Power expects to be able to restore service in an hour, possibly longer.
Deputies and Georgia State Troopers will be directing traffic as the lights will not be working.
Editors Note: As of 3:10 p.m, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed power has been restored.
